Colin always seemed like a very nice and affable guy, and I think he might have become a lot more sensitive to these sort of political issues in the wake of his daughter coming out as transgender. He described the change as a bit of a stepping stone initially, but he was fully committed to learning about gender identity and stuff to better understand the situation.

I think he used it as an opportunity to raise awareness for it at the time as well, there's a Canadian news piece with him and his daughter talking about her transition and how the family took it.

Ryan Stiles is apparently kind of abrasive and rude, I've discovered. Even so, I don't begrudge the tone of all of his tweets. He's not wrong to be frustrated with the state of the world, and I don't disagree with what he's saying.

Greg Proops is gay, is it really that much of a surprise that he's a progressive? You can get hardline conservative gay people who decry progressive "identity politics" or what have you, but Greg never came off as a repressed hard-ass on the show. It shouldn't be that much of a surprise that Greg Proops is in favor of furthering social justice causes.

Brad could come across as dumb muscle in his characters, with a lot of stage presence compared to Ryan and Colin, but in interviews he's surprisingly soft-spoken. He and Colin work really well off of each other in an interview format. It was that big, monolithic stage presence that made his nuance all the more noticeable - how well he could sing, for example. So it's not that surprising that he would oppose the normalisation of political violence, including gun violence - he's not anything like these big, steak-chewing Texans he could play so well. He's pretty thoughtful and very sharp - I don't think he'd be the sort of person to get washed away by the right's big, alarmist talking points while they're gutting environmental protections and the like.

In short: this really isn't that surprising.
