I think retirement savings are actually so they can live without working until death. They can use it any way they want. Whichi s usually on their family. Like grandchildren (if you or your siblings have any) and stuff. I don't think I've ever heard of anybody using to to pay to stay at a nursing home (unless it was one of those rich people's ones, where it's more like a vacation. I don't think they'd want to use their hard earn retirement money to be put in a place and forgotten by their families... They'd probably rather live at home and pay a live in nurse if they needed one. Or, people can just be nice and help their family. Financially, they never really seem to need a lot. A lot of older people usually already live in a house that's paid for and probably don't need much help. But I don't really see an issue when they do. My mom calls me to borrow money often. And always pays me back. I do the same. We help each other out because that's what families should do...
