That's why in my other thread regarding a Ledger~Leto role swap; I was trying to figure out what Ledger would have done with his Joker role in Suicide Squad if Leto was in the Dark Knight series instead.

Including if someone would have pushed a similar suicide squad "damaged" look on Ledger, or if he would have done something new & still succeed even as a poorly written minor character Joker just of acting skill alone.

Given a Joker role in a project like The Dark Knight, it's possible that Leto Joker would have been epic actually with the serious tone the series provided & the darker aesthetic Leto would have conjured instead.
