You don't necessarily need to be good at a game in order to criticize it. It depends largely on the criticism itself. Some criticism stands regardless of skill. Some criticism is justified based on the average player skill level. And some really does require high level play to justify the criticism. Some of Arin's issues could be addressed if he were better at the game (though it's important to remember that game grumps is a show), but others wouldn't change regardless of skill level.

The bulk of his point though was he hated the combat, but I've watched him and he is straight up horrible at the combat and makes it harder than it needs to be.

Remember that when on Game Grumps he isnt trying to be the best gamer possible. He is trying to create an entertaining show. He is also far more interested in what Danny is saying than "being good".

This is a shit argument. Hes just bad at it which contributes to his dislike. His logic sequence is basically:

I don't like this mechanic -> doesnt use mechanic -> fails at something that using said mechanic would have made much easier -> game could have been designed better

Keep in mind I like WW, MM, ALttp, TP, and even Breath of the Wild (I try to exclude this from Zelda rankings because its Elder Scrolls with a Zelda skin) more than OoT. But his reasonings for docking it points as far as my observation is concerned is that he just sucks at the game.
