Martin breathed a sigh of relief as the round lasted just long enough for him to ensure Cissnei's safe passage. His relief quickly gave way to horror however as he noticed his web browser failed to load the page properly. Soon horror gave way to all-consuming panic as the page informed him that his internet connection had been severed momentarily. With haste Martin snatched his phone from beside him and ripped open a new page on GameFAQs and then he saw it. eighteen new post when there had only been three more saves required. He swallowed hard and clicked tapped his finger onto the topic.

His beloved lay there, her form completely still. Around her all of the characters gathered, alive and well.

Martin fell to his knees and let out an agonized scream. All of those days. All of those long nights together. Memories crashed around him as he pounded his fists in the ground. He didn't want their journey to end. Not like this, god damnit!

"M-artin-kun."

Martin looked up to see the smiling, tear-filled face of Cissnei.

"Cissnei!" he rushed over and grasped her hand. "It's going to be alright, OK? You are going to be just fine."

"You were always a poor liar, Martin-kun," Cissnei said just before coughing blood.

"Shh, shh, easy my love," Martin said soothingly. "Just rest. I am with you."

Cissnei closed her eyes and smiled. "As always, yes."

Then she passed.
