So first off, lets address the big pink political elephant in the room: the movie is pretty relatable to a certain part of society. Heck, it was pretty relatable to me for an earlier time in my life.

Movie did a pretty good job of showing how some people can slip through societys cracks, and how we all might be responsible for some of it. Very Frankenstein in that way.

Of course, the Joker isnt painted as completely innocent. Even before he snaps he has several opportunities to stop, look at himself, and try to change. But he rejects them.

Biggest gripe with the movie is that it ends really abruptly. The actor does sort of channels the traditional persona really well towards the end, and you think its setting up for a third act to end the movie with a traditional Joker heist, or anything really. But nah. They spend the whole time creating the Joker but we dont get to actually see the Joker do anything. Its a shame because because hes quite good at it.

Also would have benefitted from cutting out the Waynes entirely. I could let it slide that theyre nothing like the traditional interpretations, but they really add nothing to the movie. You could have replaced them with any generic well-to-do any and nothing would change.

Overall a decent movie. Not kino though. Honestly, call me cynical, but I think the incel stuff is largely manufactured as a viral marketing campaign. Nothing in this movie we havent seen before.
