Like, shes a Carol fangirl and running into her is the explanation for why shes taken up the Ms Marvel mantle. But her powers, lore, supporting cast, pretty much everything about her has absolutely nothing to do with Carol at all. Even as a legacy character, the mantle is almost completely irrelevant. If they were feeling bold, they could nix the Carol connections entirely and lose almost nothing.
