Im not gonna smash an animal with a hammer because its invasive.

Then youre part of the problem. What do you think a city or town is going to do when they pay people to round these things up? I promise you a hammer is more humane than slowly dying in some trap. I know slugging these lizards with a hammer sounds awful, but invasive species can decimate an ecology. Youre causing much more suffering by letting it go. Youve got to nut up, be a real man, and give it one good whack out on the concrete. Put it over a flame and eat it if that makes your morals feel better.

Well, apparently they are delicious and their hides make great leather. So if they are smashing them with hammers they are dum dums.

I'm not releasing it back into the suburban wilds if it turns out to indeed be a tengu. It is an invasive species after all. And..... I wont be eating him or turning him into boots either. (It would devastate the kids.)

But I'm not smashing it with a hammer either. We've decided to keep it for a while, and if it does start getting godzilla size we've talked to local pet stores and they have no problem adopting him as the local giant lizard mascot provided hes freindly enough, which he already seems to be.

I'm not so sure its indeed a tegu though, I just cant get a match with pics of the various juveniles. The most likely would be the argentina black and white because of their popularity (escaped from a local breeder or something?) But they should be green on the fro t half as juveniles, and I cant find any that have the twin dorsal stripes.
