I guarantee theres been an atheist president already they just lied about believing in God because its necessary for votes Yeah, I'm taking atheist here to mean both atheist *and* nonreligious, which are of course two different things, but it's a lot more likely than "religious adherent who openly does not believe in god" (and I think "nonreligious, but spiritual/believes in god" is significantly more likely to go over well) Private doubt or even disbelief in the existence of god is actually pretty common among religious adherents, and it's literally impossible to tell what any given person thinks given the dire social consequences of publicly admitting this Openly atheist christianity does actually exist but it's a niche movement ...
