Unfortunately those are the only guns available in America. So taking those guns away would completely disarm Americans.
it leads into the notion that the AR and AK are some how more deadly than any of the other hundred different types of magazine fed semi-auto rifles on the market (despite their death counts being the lowest of any type of firearm) especially with manufacturers knowing how to skirt the law when certain firearm bans go into effect thanks to gun grabbers knowing jack shit about guns. so with that you then run into the problem of people just switching over to those other weapons and losing no killing power in the process. so then the gun control crowd comes back and tries to gobble up even more of the pie with more and more bans and the whole thing just keeps going until no one can own anything. its already happening in several states and especially in countries around the world.

the '94 AWB showed that banning those types of weapons had either no effect or it was extremely negligible. the gun control crowd called it a success as in less of those weapons were used in killings while ignoring that the overall death counts remained consistent with previous years (or fallowed the downward trend of violent crimes from years prior to the AWB) as killers just used other types of available firearms and that deaths by rifles already took up an extremely small percentage of crimes largely negating any real effect.
