Mainland china is basically third world isnt it Tier 1/2 cities are honestly more advanced and nicer than any western city I've ever been to. I live in Ningbo, it reminds me of Calgary but cleaner. The cleanliness of tier 1/2 cities really surprised me. Once you get of the tier 1/2 cities and start going to more rural and central/northern cities then yes, it's definitely not as advanced.
