It was only after the discovery of the New World that the slave trade developed, and then racism was born to justify the slave trade and assuage the consciences of slaveowners (who could believe themselves justified). It's clear that any real conservative would reject such a modern newfangled idea. This is absolutely incorrect as far as premise. Slavery has existed forever.
