My problem is that they are utterly forgettable movies. Star Wars is supposed to be an event. The lightsaber reveal was pretty hype. Phasma was intriguing, and hyped as the next Boba Fett. They wasted a lot of potential by making as shallow an action movie as they could. Granted, Star Wars itself isn't that deep, but they were the first blockbusters in the genre.

The original trilogy released in 6 years, but if we factor in pre-production and post production, more like 9 years (77, 80, 83). Same with the prequel trilogy (99, 02, 05). The Rey saga? 15, 17, and 19. They quite literally cut production time in 1/3rd, and found the time to release 2 stand alone movies in between main movie releases. People are tired of it. Star Wars fatigue. I know I don't give a shit about Rise.
