GameFAQs continues to slow-bleed users, technology has made the concept of a FAQ more or less obsolete, and click-ad revenue is becoming less and less effective as a means of income for Internet services. GameFAQs will eventually reach a point where it doesn't generate enough money to justify the costs, as which point C\|Net/CBS will shut the whole thing down (they might try to salvage the branding by restructuring the entire site or trying to establish premium subscriptions to support things, but neither of those things would even remotely work for this site in the current environment).
