I've lived in Austin for about 30 years now.
Competitive for jobs because everyone wants to be there Nice way of saying traffic sucks and it's extremely crowded and hard to get anywhere What's so special about the University? All cities have one Bunch of assholes on 6th Street and it's very crowded
Jobs is one reason people want to be here, especially if you work in the tech industry.

Yeah, pretty much every company has jobs people do but would rather not be doing. Google has people working on reviewing Youtube videos that break their ToS, specifically looking at death and dismemberment and other things... Those people have reportedly been getting depressed because of their job... That doesn't mean people don't want to work for Google as a whole, though.
