I think PBG had a reasonable response given the limited information he had, with ProJared being a longtime friend he trusted, and when presented with information that showed ProJared's wrongdoing he apologised to Heidi and said that he would understand if she didn't want to forgive him. People make knee-jerk reactions when their friends are in trouble.
