Why would any rational person believe in a magical sky Daddy and his zombie Carpenter son or the story about how some dude talking to the sky daddy and was told to build a big ass boat and to get two of each animal which means going all the way to Australia gather 2 of every animal there and surviving that fucking process then going to America and doing that also let's not forget the North Pole where he to grab some poler bears also he had the climate control his boat somehow and luck figuring that fucking one out.

Same reason people thought dragons would kill you if you went too far out to sea back then. Superstition, and they didn't understand things so just accepting this fact was easier. Nowadays, people follow it because despite the rough parts of religion, most any religion--Christianity included--is more to try and instill good values and a way of life in people when brought up with it. Nothing can escape assholes though, everything from video games to religion itself has fanatical ass-hats. There's also a lot we don't even understand and can't even begin to comprehend about... hell, our tiny microscopic speck of the Universe that we don't know if deities/gods are outright impossible or not, regardless of how likely/unlikely it is.

I mean hell, we could view the Sun as an eldritch abomination when you think about it. It's large, incredibly powerful, and surrounded largely by the corpses of what could be equated to its stillborns or failed creations, burns itself into your vision, and can give you cancer. Not to mention all the religious sacrifices to appease it.

Life is crazy af, let people believe what they want.
