No. People from the Isle of Wight would be the people of Wight. White people, or a person who is white (if you prefer I use person first language) is a descriptor of racial/skin tone/ethnic background.

It may be prejudice and discriminatory towards you personally, but I find no evidence that there is a portion of white people who desire this nomenclature shift. Moreover, people from the Southern part of Europe often have darker shades (not non-color) but are still technically white. Im just trying to be sensitive for everybody.
