imho it really is one of those things where their own values are so ingrained into them that they have trouble seeing the parallels

for instance in that topic about BLM and the french protests and how the reaction to them by the right wing was different you had right wingers who were basically saying 'it's different because the things they want in france are good and the things blm wants are bad' without a hint of self-awareness and I honestly think a similar kind of process is at play
