Scum staff for their neglect, scum family for dumping their loved one in a nursing home.

people always say this when they have no idea how hard it is to care for an elderly person with dementia or kidney failure or some other debilitating disease. hope you have enough money saved up to quit your job, or make enough to hire a nurse because it's a 24 hour job

I don't have to wonder, I know. Me and my brother had to take care of our ailing father last year in lieu of him wanting to be put into a home.

After only a few months and upon his death, me and my brother were physically, mentally, and emotionally fatigued beyond explanation (with my brother in particularly still suffering from crippling back problems a year later and my depression having reached peak levels to where I'm told constantly I should seek professional help), and we were financially destroyed to the point we ended up homeless for months and couldn't even cover cremation costs. (Our dad's estranged sister came out of nowhere and paid for it, before promptly disappearing from our lives again.)

How anyone takes care of the elderly for a *living* I can't even imagine, I barely survived 4 months.
