so there you have a 70 year old with his ears ringing not being able to hear commands and walking into a room with people in the darkness of his own doorway pointing flashlights at him and all he did was instinctively point the flashlight up to see what was going on (he didnt even point the gun at them). it sucks even more that he tells the cops before he dies (in a disturbingly calm voice) where the guy they SHOULD have shot is.

Concussion effect has to do with brain damage from head trauma, not loud noises. In any case, nothing to do with shock. But I don't disagree with your explanation regarding hearing loss, you are probably right.
