I used to be the angst lord in my online social circles. Eventually I realized what I was doing wrong... I was only talking to people because I wanted something from them emotionally, not because I was interested in their thoughts and ideas, etc. I think that's only human, but finally I realized the best friendships are the ones where you don't need something from the other person but you know you can learn something from your different experiences. You don't even have to like them. Some of my best friendships even started with arguments.

You have to ask yourself what you want from other people. Do you just want them to think you're cool and awesome and attractive or do you want to actually know them?
