What I didn't know was how being a fan of one game in particular would give me the opportunity to master it while becoming its most hated character. At the same I was committing heinous atrocities against Pokemons most beloved icons, I was winning tournament after tournament. I ended up winning more than anyone in the history of the GameFAQs era, and won more tournament matches than most of the playerbase combined. At one point I seemed unstoppable, especially when I managed to get moderators on my side. The beginning of my odyssey in the competitive Pokemon world began on GameFAQs, which was still, to this day, perhaps more fascinating than any other community Ive ever been involved with, and Ive been involved with many. GameFAQs was the wild west equivalent of the internet: I fired a lot of shots and took twice as many, but Im still standing. And now, Ill tell this story while I still can.
