I know his backstory, and I know that his wife was invented because the company wouldn't let him date the character the writer wanted him to be with, but that's about it. That, and he's sort of a recovered superhero on account of being the "first" black superhero.

If he's consistently invincible, that's boring. At some point, you have to be challenged to be interesting. Going back to the Robocop comparison, bullets didn't work but then the bad guys dropped steel beams on him. There's plenty you can do with a character of that strength level to keep the competition alive and give the people a reason to root for the hero. It doesn't have to be as simple as he walks on the scene, he wins.

Only his skin is bulletproof. His inner organs and all that other stuff is just regular human parts.

He can still be stopped with enough concussive force. Jessica Jones used a shotgun at point blank range to knock him out.
