It seems like you'd have to be a very seasoned debater to think fast enough to call them out. And yeah, I do see that a lot on here, and people get wrapped up pretty hard on the shifting. You either do that or defeat the snuck premise. Shifting the debate isn't an auto-win, it however could be that you are less prepared to argue the new idea and they have well prepared. In general, you should be able to know what a debate will evolve into. The example of planned parenthood, it is elementary to know someone might try to bring up killing babies.
