You're effectively arguing that Trump shouldn't have to defend his statements himself and should be able to hide behind surrogates. Direct press conferences like this are the only places where Donald Trump can be forced to personally answer for his statements and actions, and the fact is that he's a massive liar. He shouldn't be immune from being directly confronted about that because of decorum or whatever.

I don't see how Trump was made to answer for anything. He got in a shouting match with a reporter. What did that accomplish?

I think the plan of wanting to publicly expose Trump is so incredibly stupid. It just muddies the water and takes attention away from the actual facts. It scores some imaginary points but actively hurts the actual anti-Trump agenda in the long run. I hate it.
