that's easy to say but a lot of people with aspergers also have depression. it can really fuck with your motivation to improve yourself

Which sucks, and isn't easy to overcome but the other option is to be lonely and feel like shit all the time. The motivation has to come fro the individual but there are resources and the likes that would help find a better baseline and allow for a more fulfilling life.
Comorbidities are common in nearly all mental health disorders, but saying "it's not that easy" when the person isn't actively trying isn't fair. No, it wouldn't be easy, but in truth social interactions are hard in general and everyone has to work on them. Not to say someone with ASD doesn't have to work significantly harder, but if that person isn't trying at all it's hard to empathize with that.
