Personally I think deductions for taxes should be partially based on average rental prices in the county you live, and you should pay NO taxes on income made up to the amount of the average rental cost per month.

So if the Average of a 1 bedroom is $1500 a month in your area, you would get a 15k deduction at the end of the year, paying no taxes on the first 15k.

Then, if you make say $2000 a month, or 24k a year, you would only start paying taxes on the last 9k (and that would only be about 10%) so less then 1k a year. Would leave you a good 23k left, or almost 2k a month....which would let you at least rent a place and feed yourself.

Good luck getting the goverment to set something like that up.
