You make a lot from mulitple sources people that sub to a twitch streamer pay monthly and the streamer gets a cut of that. You also get endorsement deals so you have something in their stream like "Geico Gaming" and then they get thousands of dollars for that, and it's not an ad they just reference it sometimes and you see the Geico Gaming logo that is just an example. Streamers can also be paid in some cases very large amounts to stream a game for a certain period of time, even a game type that seems unrelated maybe some random new mobile game.

Ads are a small fraction of what they get especially since adblock is so popular these days.

Oh, and btw guys, the same applies to motorsports. The best paid driver isn't the fastest driver, but the one who promotes hardest.
