Imagine believing TC actually posts on CE while being an ER Physician on duty First off, medicine is a language. There is a way physicians communicate that your armchair "doctor" can't replicate. So it's pretty easy to tell here who is the real deal or not. Second, if you've spent any real time working in an ED you'd understand it's not necessarily always go-go-go. There are definitely lulls, especially on overnight shifts. Or sometimes your hospital is so full upstairs that the ED goes on what is called "diversion" whereby any new patient is just walk-ins and not by ambulance. I've spent several hours with nothing going on before. Third, she's not an ED doc, but hospitalists admit patients from the ED, therefore they are aware enough to discuss the patient's course prior to being admitted. ImTheMacheteGuy posted... I've only ever seen the title when you've mentioned it here and I haven't bothered to google it) A hospitalist usually refers to an internal medicine doctor who attends over inpatients in the hospital (in contrast to outpatient clinic). It can also refer to pediatricians or family docs who also attend inpatients. Best example--Dr. Cox and J.D. (once he finished his residency) from the show Scrubs were both hospitalists. --- ...
