The ending for LC1 plays heavily into the beginning of Defenders.

You mean Luke going to jail? Because that's kind of incidental.

In fact, I would even say that if you want to understand LC2 you definitely need to watch Defenders given what happens to not only Misty, but also Luke and Claire.

The only relevant part for Luke is he gets out of prison, which was something that *should* have been covered in LC2 -- but that time he was only going in for a few months anyway.

IF1 really only introduces a couple of villains, which for Defenders tend to play more background roles. The main villain(s) are introduced in DD1 and 2.

The Immortal Iron Fist is the sworn enemy of the Hand (something Danny reminds us of every 5 minutes) so.... suggesting that LC1 (where the Hand isn't even mentioned) is essential while saying IF1 (where the Hand not only appears, but they introduce new villains, explain the Hand's structure, go into parts of the Hand's background, etc) isn't essential is just silly.

The Defenders frequently references K'un-Lun (seen in IF1), uses characters introduced in IF1, has Danny set up as being centrally important (the same is true of DD), and is about the Hand. The Hand are basically the NFI MCU's phase 1. The only shows to directly incorporate them are DD1, DD2, IF1, and Defenders. Therefore IF1 is more essential to Defenders than LC1.

If you are just looking for quality I would recommend this order for best to worst:

1. Daredevil Season 1
2. Punisher Season 1
3. Jessica Jones Season 1
4. Daredevil Season 2
5. Defenders
6. Luke Cage Season 2
7. Luke Cage Season 1
8. Jessica Jones Season 2
9. Iron Fist Season 1
