That's because the PS3 wasn't on the top of its generation. The PS4's doing notably better than the Xbone, so Sony doesn't feel the need to appeal to anyone that doesn't have a PS4.

That said, the whole thing with Fortnite where using your account on a PS4 would permanently lock you out of ever using it on another console was bullshit. Disallow crossplay if you want, Sony, but don't mess with people's third-party accounts.
