I'll admit I rely on the wiki a little too much, but when bosses use multiple abilities in a turn and it doesn't really give any indication on what happened, it's hard to learn from your mistakes. It took me three tries until it clicked for me that he was dispelling me, and another few before I understood that it was using instant death moves. If the stamina costs were cheaper it'd be fine, but 40 a pop for a failure is...pretty severe I think.
