It just doubles the awkwardness, it doesn't cancel out
Joking aside, I still think the attitude of "s/he's tolerable on a message board so I'd want to hang out with him/her" is a little weird. Like is everyone here just really desperate to make friends, or desperate to appear like they're a friendly person? There's so much you don't know about these people unless you've really talked to them a lot here, or seen their posts for a long time. And common interests really don't mean much... I mean, ICOYAR probably likes a lot of the same video games as me, but I'm staying the hell away from that dude.
