Topic	How would you defend against a home intruder, without a gun?

I turn off all lights at night, so I have the advantage of darkness, and being able to easily navigate in that darkness. Add to that specialized military training, martial arts training, and the facts that I will be extremely pissed off, protecting my children, and that despite being disabled, I'm still huge and very strong, there is a very high chance that I will get the drop on him, and I won't waste my one shot before he can fire at me. It does not bode well for the intruder. But I don't have to worry because I'm armed, and so is my wife. --- Torn between two minds. Is either correct? Perhaps together.....but how?
