He was if nothing else an incredibly important part of our body politic the last 20 years and almost demonstrably for the better. 2000 John McCain is the embodiment of what I want in a politician and I am sad no one else even remotely popped up in the meantime (to sadly include 2008 McCain). I worked my ass off from Hillary Clinton in 2008. And I ultimately didn't actually vote for President in 2008 because I couldn't stomach the idea of Sarah Palin in the White House but I hesitated for a very very long time in the voting booth because I did very much want McCain as President.
