I certainly think there's a media element to the problem. Intentional or not, the killer gets glorified. The media releases everything they can on them as soon as it gets dug up. They follow their trials with an eagle eye and report on them nightly. I'm not saying attention is every mass shooter's motivation, but if their names only get released to the survivors and families of victims, and their trial is covered in a matter of seconds "the ____ shooter was found guilty and got (insert sentence here) today," and make their identity a forgotten element to the whole thing, those who are in it for the attention would certainly be less apt to do it. --- darkx ...
