I don't call everyone that has a "mutual liking" with me a friend as they simply are not. They are acquaintances in my eyes. A friend takes much more than just liking someone. An acquaintance is someone you know of, like you know their name or what they look like. A work colleague can be an acquaintance if you strictly keep things business, but when there's mutual liking it goes from neutral to positive, i.e. a friendship.
