so if Sakurai was going to add a Gen 3 pokemon, there are only a few viable options:

-Sceptile
-Blaziken
-Swampert
-Gardevoir
-Mawile
-Plusle & Minun
-Deoxys

if Sakurai's only criteria was "they need to be a notable Pokemon from Gen III and have a plausible echo from Gen V," then we can start narrowing down the list:

-Sceptile - Not really notable anymore, he's pretty forgettable. You can argue that Treeko would be a better pick but I don't think people are clamoring for him

-Blaziken - A memorably final starter evo that has had smash buzz since its creation, but now that Incineroar exists and could potentially have a wrestling moveset plus more relevancy, why should Blaziken exist?

-Swampert - A poor man's Greninja

-Gardevoir - Recently in Pokken and is super popular, still makes appearances here and there. Good moveset potential based on all the psychic moves ever in Pokemon. Tons of porn. Had to be said. Great choice.

-Mawile - I only put this one on here because people still seem to like her, but I don't think she's too popular. She's bipedal and could potentially have a semi-decent moveset but she really isn't THAT notable

-Plusle & Minun - Part of the Forbidden Seven, but Pichu exists to fuck it why do this now when they are the least relevant they have ever been?

-Deoxys - Way better and more relevant legendaries with better moveset potential. Also this thing is ugly af

Once you have it broken down, I guess all you got left is Gardevoir, and when you look down the Gen V Pokedex... Yeah, Gothitelle is the only one who could really be an echo. Actually, when you look down the Gen V Pokedex you see that there's actually not many viable Pokemon at all:

-Victini
-Snivy
-Emboar
-Oshawott
-the ugly element monkeys
-Krookodile
-Gothitelle
-Chandelure
-Keldeo
-Meloetta
-Genesect

so if you break these down, you got starters that are no longer popular, ugly monkeys that would be a pain to implement, Krookodile who is just a shitty K Rool, a chandelier that was in Pokken for some reason, and three legendaries nobody even remembers because there are now 16 legendaries per generation

that leaves Gothitelle, who really isn't notable on her own, but when attached to Gardevoir, why the hell not?

I don't wanna believe the leaks but she's just such an out-of-nowhere pick, and yeah having her be an echo of Gardevoir seems like a no-brainer if you already have Gardevoir on your fake leak roster, but why go that extra mile when it could potentially invalidate the rest of your leak? and what about the convenience of getting a rep from each gen? is that just a coincidence?
