Economically more moderate, less cronyist (which is going to mean advocating for drastically simpler economic regulations), less hawkish, less pandering to identity politics, more friendly to the second amendment - which can be done as easily as just pushing for greater efficiency and accountability in existing institutions designed to enforce existing gun control legislation.

The dems can benefit tremendously by taking on police unions in the same way the republicans have taken on other public sector unions, and stop pandering to teacher's unions, reaching across the aisle to combat the quasi-monopoly of neighborhood schooling and superfluous education department bureaucracy (and reallocating the saved money directly to schools and teachers), as the status quo with respect to neighborhood schooling lends fuel to the firestorm of allegations from the right that dems are crypto-segregationists.
