The legal system in the US doesnt operate that way at all Yeah, you'd definitely be threatened/charged with interfering with an investigation, or not co-operating. You would go to jail, and then if what you're saying is somehow true, that would be a breach of your Section 9 (Canada) - arbitrary detainment, and you could then sue the police department and the officer that arrested you.
