You can say that it personally doesn't annoy you too badly but there is literally not a single good reason within all the range of human ideas for this """feature""" to be included. The game is literally about seeing eight separate stories and using eight different characters and yet it is impossible for a player to use any party without the first character they happened to choose until end-game.
