What I don't like: -Pacing is kind of poor in regards to doing all eight chapter 1s -Levelling seems a little fucked because of the above -Eight characters but two of each have very similar path actions which discourages pairing them -They don't seem to interact much -And you can't switch people out or have two separate parties going because the person you chose first happens to be 'the protagonist' even though I see no gameplay difference with that, I seriously do not understand that choice. It's fucking stupid.
Combat is fun Inquire is fun but overall side quests feel a little thrown in
Tbh the games combat is what's keeping me in right now (and sinking $60), hopefully it picks up at chapter 2s
Interaction starts to occur a little more in the form of travel banter once you start doing Chapter 2s. Depending on who is in your party, each character will have a little skit where they talk with whomever the Chapter 2 is currently about. An example would be Tressa asking Primrose a question about dancing after a story cutscene in her Chapter 2.
Supposedly, once you start completing Chapter 4s, then the skits open to having multiple party members in them such a skit with all the guys participating in a contest of sorts but I haven't made it to that point myself.
Sounds like PA's from Star Ocean: The Second Story.
Might have to look up a list so I don't miss any.
There a stickied topic on the Octopath Traveler board detailing which order the party banter appears in for each character's chapter. I've already missed a few myself unfortunately. ---
