Republican Govenror Mike Parson has signed a new bill into law banning the marriage of 15 YEAR OLDS from getting married to adults ending a long conservative tradition of child brides which has been a destination of teen marriages in the state...now you have to be SIXTEEN!!

When talking about "child brides," 15 vs 16 is fairly academic. And, when people think of child brides, it's often more pre-teens.

Republican Jean evans said "It's done, it's awesome. I think some people think there's not much to it because we raised it from 15 to 16 but there was no minimum before. Most important, we are not going to allow adults to prey on children. Someone 21 is not going ot be allowed to marry someone 15. We are not going to allow adults to legalize what is statuatory rape"

Considering that a lot of those marriages were minors to minors, it's a stupid remark. And it's not like the marriage age is even getting to the statutory age anyway, if Ducky has the info right. It'd still be a year off.
