Unless you're going to work with regexes every day because you use Perl for some reason, the trick is to not try to memorize the syntax and all the little rules. Just use an online generator for experimentation. Here's the one I use: https://regex101.com/ A couple years ago I worked on a pretty involved web crawler side project. Wrote a lot of custom scraping code with regular expressions. I still didn't really memorize much of the syntax. shrug It's one of those things you learn enough of to be dangerous with the aid of tools, but never commit to memory. --- Do good.
