It just... it doesn't make any sense.

I may not agree with hot dessert or hot fruits and vegetables, but if people like them fine.

But eating cold meats and not being disgusted as a cold slice of mortadella hits your tongue instead of it being heated, and tasting the cold? Ugh yuck. It's utterly bizarre.

And I've noticed that when it comes to cold seafood, like sushi or sashimi or hell cocktail shrimp, people always drown it in sauce before eating it. News flash, if you have to put sauce on it and can't eat it by itself then maybe something is wrong. Why don't you try oh I don't know cooking it, and letting those natural flavor juices arise from exposure to heat?

Then there's chicken salad, a pretty great meal. At least how I prepare it, which is having the chick shishtawook already prepared, nice and hot, and then place them in the bowl of crisp fresh lettuce and cabbage and other vegetables I may have placed. I don't even do dressing either, because the combination of hot cooked chicken with crisp cool lettuce is delicious in and of itself.

But outside in restaurants and cafes or whatever, the chicken salad is always brought with the chicken ice cold among the vegetables which is just... unfortunate.

Yet people do eat all these aforementioned cold foods and more. It's just a strange phenomenon all around.
