Let's put it this way: one of the major aspects of the world is its base-5 number system. You have exactly two clues to figure that out: a random little two-person game in a classroom which outright tells you the numbers, and the fact that one of the villagers opens her door if you knock on it exactly five times.

It's that kind of obtuse - not outright insane troll logic where things literally make no sense, but you need to take notes on things in order to get to the end.
