Well, I finished Megalo Box. Was worried for a good part of it that itd end up being just a condensed version of Ashita no Joe, especially the ending, but Id say it turned out great in the end.

Argh jealous!!! I dunno if the subbed version is available yet. But it's by far my favorite anime of the season.

I don't think Ashita no Joe ended with a Yuri vs Joe equivalent fight anyways, did it? I thought it was like some dude who was just really really good at boxing.

Well, I was more worried about the ending being too close to the circumstances and drama surrounding Rikiishis death. In Joe, Rikiishi died from his injuries and health issues after fighting Joe way before the ending and Joe ended up dying fighting the world champion in the end.

Megalo Boxs gear-related shenanigans can more or less replicate those circumstances in a shorter time, and the final fight can play out as a condensed version of that ending, so to speak.
