Because this is a world cup. After the world cup, you go back to your club teams where maybe you play with one of those Brazilians you just humiliated 12 - 1. Maybe it's awkward. 7 - 1 in and of itself is an outrageous result that is no longer common in football. Pushing it further would have been not cool.
It's sports?? You're out to set records and be the best you can be? Not win by a small margin so the other guys participation ribbon isn't too humiliating.
