What about this is objectionable? The USA had to process her and then wait for Canada to do the same. They can't just let people slide, nor can they just send her back without Canada's permission.


They can use common sense and judge the situation accordingly.

We are on a slippery slope nowadays and people are defending things that arent right by parroting that its the law, and equating it as the right thing to do.

Some of the worst atrocities in human history were perfectly legal at the time. When something isnt right it needs to be called out as such. Crossing a border is not a criminal act.

I'm sorry, but if someone crosses the border illegally I want them detained and investigated. It is the right thing to do.

If I was near a border I would make sure I was aware of it's exact location for that very reason.

She was visiting. Its would be easy for her to not know...
